The Environment & Ergonomics Research Group focuses on how to minimize the impact of the built environment on the natural environment. Humans are the bridge between these two worlds and it is human activity that has created every environmental problem from factory farms destroying local environments to factory cities destroying global environments.
As a leader in the development of software used to design a significant percentage of every man-made object in the world, we feel a responsibility to help architects, designers, and engineers create better, longer lasting, less wasteful, more useful and usable objects, devices, structures, and infrastructures.
To this end, we examine ergonomics as well as architecture and urban design. We take a community-based approach and work towards enabling and empowering research scientists around the world studying these areas. Working with our academic and industrial partners, our hybrid group focuses on modeling, simulation, and visualization of virtual 3D designs of spaces and objects. We explore both the outside and the inside of human interaction: with modeling and simulation of architecture and urban design, as well as multiscale human modeling and simulation. |
