From the first reviews:
"SketchBook Motion is one of the most powerful apps of its kind on the App Store. From developer Autodesk, the app allows artists to create animated scenes and apply motion to their sketches. The app is free and subscription based. The App Store Editors Notes give a perfect reason why SketchBook Motion is well deserved!"
Apple Store Editor Notes:
"Animation is anything but easy. That is, unless you're using our 2016 iPad App of the Year. SketchBook Motion's first trick is ditching insider terms like "keyframe" and "timeline" — instead opting for wonderfully natural words like "wind" and "rain". It's SO much easier for us to wrap our heads around, and the simple tutorials and excellent samples help, too."
Sketchbook Motion was originated from our award winning research initiative, Project Draco, which aims to make animation as easy & fluid as sketching, and a powerful medium for rapid communication.
When we think of animation, we often think of it as an art and storytelling medium. Most of us experience dynamic media every day, but we rarely create them as it is limited to expert users. SketchBook Motion looks at animation with a different lens. A medium that helps us to express ideas and thoughts beyond our verbal language -- telling a story or explaining a concept. By making animation as easy and fluid as sketching, we intend to make dynamic drawings a powerful medium to think, create, and communicate rapidly. Beyond communication, sketching is also a process, a way of thinking, a tool of thought and therefore SketchBook Motion is an integral part of the SketchBook product line.
Congratulations to the teams involved and the amazing collaboration between the research and product teams to bring this technology and app together and then being recognized with this terrific award.
