Anthony Ruto leads the development of Autodesk Within software and is one of the founding members of the Within team. During Within's inception, Anthony wrote the code base that facilitated the development of Within's lightweight design capabilities in software. He developed and implemented efficient algorithms for generating highly complex lattice geometries and calibrated them to additive manufacturing processes including Direct Metal Laser Sintering and Electron Beam Melting. Anthony leads the software development team at Within and collaborates with other teams in Autodesk to develop the next generation in advanced functional design software.
Prior to Within, Anthony worked in the medical imaging sector and innovated solutions for real-time image guided radiotherapy, including a patented Patient Monitor. He has also been involved in the research and development of TV broadcast scheduling technologies at the BBC and developed software for early 3D body scanning systems.
Anthony has an Engineering Doctorate in Virtual Environments Imaging & Visualisation from University College London (UCL) where he specialised in the statistical modelling of 3D human body shape for various applications. He also holds a Master of Research in Computer Vision, Image Processing, Graphics and Simulation from UCL and a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge.
In his spare time, Anthony enjoys cycling, surfing, and playing basketball.
