Jason Cuenco is a Research Engineer at Autodesk Research's Pier 9 Robotics Lab in San Francisco. He is currently spearheading the team’s VR/AR and Visualization initiatives, focusing on closing the divide between the real and digital worlds by means of intuitive interaction with robotic systems. Previously he joined Autodesk as a software engineer and solid modeler for ACG's Tinkerplay/TMD project, creating print-ready procedurally generated geometry for modular build systems.
Jason holds a B.S in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, focusing on computer graphics production and embedded systems. This experience spans both hardware and software and has allowed him to previously hold positions in the IT, VFX and 3d printing industries. Notable companies include Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic, where he served as an Assistant Technical Director and Production Engineer developing tools and practices for various departments including Modeling, Creature-dev/Rigging, Animation, Sim/Lighting, and Comp.
In his spare time, he dabbles in artistic and technical side projects, touching all mediums, from paint and clay to servos and solenoids in an effort to find that elusive balance between Science and Art.
